Experience Sharing Workshop with MEW of DSHE, Government of Bangladesh

English in Action recently organised an experience sharing workshop in collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MEW-DSHE). The aim of this workshop was to share experiences on monitoring and evaluation of education programs and to explore areas of future collaboration.

Professor Didarul Alam, Director of MEW-DSHE, Johan Bentinck, Team Leader of EIA, Fahmida Shabnam, Education Adviser of DFID and representatives from TQI II (Teaching Quality Improvement II project), SEQAEP (Secondary Education Quality and Access Enhancement Project), and SESDP (Secondary Education Sector Development Project) were present for the day-long workshop. The workshop commenced with introductory presentations from both teams. Dr. Robina Shaheen, Head of Research, Monitoring & Evaluation presented the contemporary international perspectives of Educational Monitoring and Evaluation, and Md. Shamim Ahsan Khan; Assistant Director of MEW-DSHE provided a detailed introduction of the MEW.

Key personals from different education programs, like Mr. Reaz Ahmed (Assistant Director, SEQAEP), Mr. Khaled Abu Naser (Deputy Director, SESDP), Ms. Rowshon Ara Begum (Assistant Director, TQI- II) were also present and shared their success stories.

The participants agreed that there is an opportunity for MEW and EIA to work together in terms of monitoring work they undertake. They decided on sharing relevant documents and exploring how instruments could be customized or combined so they could be used across both organisations.
