Media Briefing - 5th BELTA International Conference 2011

Bangladesh English Language Teachers’ Association (BELTA) and English in Action (EIA) are proud to be the joint organizers of the 5th BELTA International Conference 2011, theme: Learning English in a Changing World: Global Perspectives and Local Contexts. The conference will be held at the BIAM Foundation, Dhaka during 20-22 May 2011.
 
On May 16, 2011 a Media Briefing session was held at the National Press Club on the upcoming 5th BELTA International Conference 2011. 85 media personnel attended the session.

Three speakers from BELTA - Dr Rubina Khan, Dr Dil Afroze Quader, Dr Arifa Rahman and three from EIA - Marc van der Stowe, Mike Solly, Dr Sharmistha Das spoke on various aspects including the objectives and activities of both the organizations reaching out to all parts of the country, the complexities of introducing classroom change and teacher development in ELT and finally, the planning, organising and implementing of this conference. The issue of partnership and collaboration between EIA and BELTA was emphasised. The result has been this exciting event featuring 89 presentations for nearly 600 participants from home and abroad, starting on May 20, 2011. After the presentations by the six panel speakers, the panelists replied to questions raised by attending members of the media.

BELTA has held four international conferences so far. The up-coming 5th international conference will be held in partnership with EIA and sponsorship from the UKaid from the Department for International Development (DFID).
