Teachers are the heart of EIA programme. They are the change makers who are changing lives of millions students across Bangladesh. EIA value the contribution of teachers and celebratedthe 50th World Teachers Day – WTD2016 with thousands of teachers around Bangladesh through a social media campaign.
EIA teacherswere engaged through Facebook and Twitter on the day (5th October 2016). They sentmany messages, photos and videos expressing one favorite thing they like most about being a teacher.
“I like mostly in my profession to encourage my students to know the unknown” shared teacher Shamima Sultana from, Noakhali. Teacher Abu Bakkar from Rajshahi shared, “My students are learning with great joy. I become very happy when I see the smiling face of my students.”
These messages were sent to EIA facebook page, World Teachers’ Day Page at EIA and through emails, which EIA shared with thousands of national and international friends on facebook and twitter.
In 2015, World Teachers’ Day campaign teachers were similarly engaged.
What is World Teacher’s Day?
In concerning the status of the teachers, 5th October was adopted as the WTD from UNESCO’s recommendation in 1966. From then, Positive response to WTD shows a significant awareness, understanding and appreciation for the vital contribution that teachers make to education. This year’s theme for WTD was, “Valuing Teachers, Improving their Status”.
